Since 2021 after the murder of Sarah Everard, Coventry Counts Dead Women has stood as a beacon of remembrance and activism, dedicated to honouring the women and girls lost to male violence. Our mission is clear: to ensure that every woman who has been killed is remembered not as a statistic, but as a person who mattered deeply. As we approach another year of vigils and advocacy, it’s important to reflect on our journey and celebrate the impact we have made together.
We believe that remembering these lives is a vital step toward demanding better protection, justice, and support for women everywhere. Each name we speak aloud at our vigil is a powerful reminder of lives lost and a call to action for society not to accept this violence as inevitable.
The Journey So Far
What started as a local vigil in Coventry has grown into a significant movement marked by resilience and community spirit. Our journey has also been strengthened by partnerships with local services such as Coventry Haven Women's Aid, Kairos, and Panahghar who provide vital support to women affected by violence. Through collaboration, we amplify our message and extend real help to those in need.
